Burnett County cannot grant or deny any application for rock rip-rap placed at or
below the ordinary high water mark. These are considered "waters of the state' and therefore require a Wisconsin DNR permit.
You do not have shoreline erosion to speak of and I am not sure whether they would grant a permit in this case. It doesn't seem
likely. However if you still wish to apply, you can find all you need at the following website:
http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/waterways/shoreline habitat/lake erosion html
Again Burnett County does not review or grant or deny these permits at all. Please keep in mind, your fragile buffer planting
may be in jeopardy if you attempt to access the shoreline with equipment to place rock rip-rap. Your buffer is required as a
condition of your 2007 Burnett County Land Use permit. Staff from our office will review your property after September 30,
2011. Again please call if you have questions or concerns 715-497-6755.
Thanks,
Paul Cook
Conservation Specialist
Burnett County LWCD
1
