Proposed Project Description
The following is a description for the Land Use Permit Application for 7136 Fremsted Road, Danbury,WI 54830
The application is for the replacement of the two existing decks, and the construction of a small landing deck and stairs
for the back door of the house.
Included with this application and proposal are also an aerial picture of the existing house with lot lines and
measurements and the lot's platt drawing.
Deck 1 (Front Door)
The existing 11' x 8' long deck on the front door had rotting steps and the riser height was too high. Its condition was
dangerous and so it has been deconstructed and removed. The first part of this project would be to replace the existing
deck with a new deck that will run from the where the old deck was next to the cantilevered fireplace to the corner of
the house nearest the garage.
The new deck would be 36' x 8' and have the stairs located at the corner of the house were the grade is level and it
would be a 30" elevation versus the previous 6'elevation where the stairs were located. This will allow for stair rises
with a 7.5" height and treads of 11".
Construction would include using one of the existing 8" post footings, and adding four more 8" x 48"footings on 9'
centers(adjusted for the final length of the deck). 4"x 6" post plates and 4" x 6" posts would be used support the
exterior elevations ranging from 30"to 6'9".
A 2"x 10" ledger board will be run along the side of the house, with flashing placed under the existing vinyl siding. The
box of the deck would be made from 2" x 10". As the decking will be Azek decking, the joists will be on 12" centers and
will be of 2"x 8" construction with hangers and bracing.
The railings will be AFCO Ready Rail aluminum railings with 3" posts.
Deck 2 (Back Door)
The second deck will be a simple landing and stairs for the back door on the house. This deck is a new construction, so a
2"x 10" x 6' ledger board and flashing will be added. This deck will 6'x 4'with stairs added running along the side of the
house toward the garage.
This deck will require two post footings poured 4'from the house using 8"x 48"footing tubes and would utilize 4" x 6"
posts and post plates. As with the first deck, the box would be 2" x 10" construction, and use 2"x 8"joist and hangers.
The decking would be Azek decking with the 3" aluminum posts and rails.
Deck 3 (Main Deck)
The main deck is 25'x 10'and is supported on the exterior by four posts. The two inner posts are 9'—8" from the outer
posts. I would like to utilize the existing posts as they are in good condition, and create a 2-2"x 10" header so the main
deck can be cantilevered out an additional 2'.
Construction would include rebuilding the box with 2" x 10" x 12', and using 2" x 10"'s on 12 inch centers for joists with
hangers and bracing. Again, the decking would be Azek decking with the 3" aluminum posts and rails.
