The deadline to correct the violation was
originally June 30, 2006. The plan includes an 11 X 17 site diagram(front and back)and a three
page narrative plus cover letter.
The restoration plan(as for all restorations in Bumett County)required the use of vegetation
native to the county. Appropriate plant lists were provided. The plan stated:
***Vegetation native to Burnett County is required for the restoration.*******
The landowner guide includes appropriate plant lists and a list of businesses that provide native
plants. These plants are suited to the conditions of the property, and will provide food and
habitat for birds and animals around the lake. Nae-native vegetation planted in this zone as
part of the restoration may be required to be removed and replaced with native vegetation.
Inspection Results
The planted areas do not meet the requirements of the restoration plan.
A color coded 11X17 site diagram accompanies these notes.
Partially completed
Icelridge berm area(purple highlight)appears to be planted with native plant species.
However, these species are more suited for sunny, open areas. Woodland species were
recommended. If these plants do not survive, they must be replaced with native woodland
species from the plant list provided.
Shrub planting was not completed in this area, and these must be added.
Not completed
Area next to ordinary high water mark adjacent to berm(yellow highlight). This area was to be
planted in native vegetation. It is now lawn.Note that there are stakes present that indicate the
location of the ordinary high water mark where this planting must begin.
Main area to be planted(green highlighted)was planted, but only about 5 native plants are
present(cup plant and switch grass). Most of the plants are garden perennials and annuals
including day lilies, lily of the valley, and yam(a non-native annual in WI). These plants must
be removed from the restoration area and replaced with native plant species from the lists
provided.
Fill does not appear to have been removed from the wetland area, and additional fill is being
added along the perimeter.
