BURNETT COUNTY
LAND&WATER CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT
7410 County Road K,4109
Siren,WI 54872
Telephone: (715)349-2186 Fax: (715)349-2102
LFi%CD(a,,hurnettcounty.org
www.burnettcountv.com
August 27, 2015
Grant and Jennifer Smith
10611 Quinn St. NW
Andover, MN 55304
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Smith:
I visited your property on July 7, at the request of the Burnett County Zoning Department, to look
at the removal of shoreline vegetation. They informed us that some trees had been cut within your
shoreline buffer zone.
Upon inspecting the shoreline, I noticed at least seven tree stumps where larger trees had been
removed from the shoreline buffer area. As your required shoreline restoration, I would simply
recommend planting back seven tree species of your choice. The remainder of your shoreline is in
a natural condition. For your tree plantings, you should focus on species that do well on dry, sandy
soil, such as Quaking Aspen, Red Pine and White Pine. While Red Oak would also do well, they
are not the best choice if you have concerns about oak wilt. The fall season is a good time to plant
trees and you should be able to do so right up until the ground freezes.
Staff from our office may inspect the property for compliance during the 2016 growing season. If
you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call at the number listed above.
Sincerely,
Paul D. Cook
Conservation Specialist
