Towne, Jason
From: Brett Larsen <blarsen05@yahoo.com>
Sent: Saturday, September 18, 2021 8:54 AM
To: Towne,Jason; Conroy, Craig;Taylor, Donald
Subject: 2021 Dock Expansion Plan
Hello,
I am writing to you as a member of the Loon Lake Property Owners Association.
On July 8th a 2021 Dock Expansion Plan for DNR Approval was issued by Voyager Village POA to the DNR. This
document proposes the addition of 80 boat slips, incremental to the existing 90 slips, on four Burnett County lakes with
Voyager Village shoreline. Specifically for our Loon/Cadotte situation, the proposal is to add 32 slips beyond the 38
currently. This raises concerns for the potential negative impact to our water quality should this plan go forward. Our
association believes that water quality and lake wildlife have been deteriorating since 2002.
As with current comments regarding campground expansion, we also feel that review is needed of present lake water
quality stipulations -for all our area lakes. It seems the number of boats per acre of water is a more reliable method to
protect water quality-and may warrant evaluation as an alternative and better determination. Lake depth, types of
watercrafts and motor sizes, etc. are also factors that must be included in this analysis.
I am requesting that our lakes—water quality, shoreline preservation, wildlife protection—be given the same rigorous
review as campgrounds (and CAFO) have been given, halting any actions during the interim and requiring submission for
approval on any and all plan proposals. Our lakes are critical assets in making Burnett County the premier north woods
destination that it has become, and I ask your support in preserving them for our future.
I thank you for your time and consideration.
-Brett Larsen
Loon Lake Association Member& Property Owner
1
