Towne, Jason
From: mark@nagelhome.com
Sent: Wednesday, October 6, 2021 1:41 PM
To: Towne, Jason
Subject: Cadotte Lake Water Quality Concerns and Voyager Village Slip Request
Mr.Towne,
I am writing you to express my concerns with Voyager Village's proposal to increase boat slips on Cadotte Lake and the
negative impact it will have on both Cadotte and Loon Lake, connected lakes. The water quality(clarity and
phosphorous levels) has been getting worse year over year. Increasing boat traffic on the lakes will only further degrade
our water quality.
Voyager Village touts Little Bear Lake as a successful balance between recreational use and superior lake quality and
health. Little Bear Lake is 1 mile north of Cadotte Lake and is 118 acres, 55' deep and is surrounded entirely by Voyager
Village property. Little Bear has approximately 38 slips and Voyager Village has NOT proposed to increase this number.
Cadotte Lake is similar in size at 121 acres, but is only 21' deep. Cadotte Lake currently has 38 slips, same as Little Bear,
and Voyager Village is proposing to add 32 more slips for a total of 70 slips. Cadotte Lake's water quality has been on a
downward trend with phosphorous levels increasing over the past 10 years five-year average phosphorous levels from
2011-2015 were 17.1 and the levels increased to 19.7 for the period of 2016-2020. According to the Wisconsin DNR boat
traffic increases levels and phosphorous levels and negatively impact to lake water health.
Increasing boat traffic on Cadotte Lake, which is connected to Loon Lake, will only accelerate the negative impact to the
health and water quality of both Cadotte and Loon Lake. Voyager Village's proposal to almost double the slips on Cadotte
Lake and not increase Little Bear's slips appears to be a move to preserve the quality of the Voyager Villager Owner's
"exclusive" Little Bear Lake, while sacrificing Cadotte and Loon Lake's water quality to address their owners request for
more slips.
I ask you to please consider not allowing Voyager Village to increase the number of slips on Cadotte lake. Or if absolutely
needed limit it and restrict it to no more than what they have on Little Bear Lake, spread the increase over the two lakes
rather than overly burdening Cadotte.
Mark Nagel
Loon Lake Property Owner
651-276-4112
1
