AllS Mr. Freeman Hol mer Administrator Department of Natural Resources Division of Resource Development Madison, Wisconsin 53702 Dear Mr. Holmer: The following statement has been prepared in response to your letter of January 9, 1968. Burnett County is a member of the Northwestern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. The technical staff of the Commission has been meeting regularly with the Burnett County Zoning Committee and count) board to review and adopt land use control ordinances developed in conjunction with the Northwestern Wisconsin Regional Planning Program. These ordinances include comprehensive zoning, subdivision and building-sanitary regulations which were prepared in accordance with the recommendations of the regional planning program, and also to satisfy the floodplain and shoreland zoning requirements of the Water Resources Act. Thusfar, the following action has been taken on each of these codes and or- dinances: (1) Sanitary Code - This code was adopted by the County Board on November 16, 1967. (2) Subdivision Control Ordinance - A public hearing for this ordinance was held on November 16, 1967. This ordinance was adopted by the County Board on the same date. (3) Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance - The Northwestern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission is currently in the process of conducting a land use survey and formulating a comprehensive plan for Burnett County. Since comprehensive planning is the basic first part of the planning- zoning process (including floodplain and shoreland development), we will await completion of this overall program before adopting a zoning ordinance. It is anticipated that this ordinance will be presented to the County Board for adoption by the latter part of 1968.
