i *AL BURNETT COUNTY
* * LAND & WATER CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT
c y 7410 County Road K,#109
F Siren, WI 54872
TCpNTy.ahG Telephone: (715) 349-2186 Fax: (715) 349-2102
LWCD@burnettcounty.org
Shoreline Buffer Restoration Plan
Taboka LLC
27290 Jamison Rd.
Webster, WI 54893
Yellow Lake
Buffer Restoration
The restored buffer must extend from the ordinary high water mark, 50 feet inland on Class 1 lakes such as
Yellow Lake.
Buffers consist of two major components: The first is a no-touch, natural vegetation zone and the second is a
minimum maintenance zone. A single viewing/access corridor up to 30 feet wide may cross both zones
perpendicular to the shore. Vegetation removal, cutting, trimming and land disturbing activities are
prohibited in the no-touch zone. Limited pruning and mowing are allowed in the viewing/access corridor
and the minimum maintenance zone. Walkways, pathways and stairs must be located in the viewing/access
corridor; piers, wharfs and lifts must be placed in the water immediately in front of the corridor.
The no-touch zone must be established and maintained from the ordinary high water mark and extend inland
thirty-five feet. The remaining buffer area, extending back to 50 feet and the 30 foot viewing corridor must be
vegetated.
Viewing/Access Corridor
The viewing corridor and minimum maintenance area (from 35 to 50 feet from the ordinary high water mark)
must be vegetated to prevent erosion. Viewing corridors must be located at least 10 feet from the property line
with a minimum separation of at least 30 feet between designated viewing corridors. Much of your view
corridor is now bare soil. Your view corridor must be vegetated, however it can be mowed. For the portion of
bare soil in your view corridor you can plant lawn type grasses. I recommend a mix with a high percentage of
creeping red fescue, tall fescue, fine fescue and perennial ryegrass. You should seed according to manufacturer
recommendations and then cover with erosion mat.
No Touch, Natural Vegetation Zone
Plant native trees and shrubs and a temporary seeding of annual rye. Instructions for planting are found
in the landowner guide. Plan to water regularly the first year to ensure plant survival. Allow existing
vegetation to grow with no mowing or trimming.
