MAY 29, 2023
To: Burnett County Land Services
From: David &Tania Gray
715-377-2990 or grayd@live.com
26879 E. Benoit Lake Rd - Project Description and Application Supplement
Currently, our two-bedroom cabin is poorly insulated, without any permanent heat source, and too large
in some areas while being too small in others. The primary purpose of this project is to extend the
season with insulation and install permanent heat, while we are at it, bring the pressure tank out of the
crawl space and make the space more useable. We hope to extend the season from mid-May to early
October to mid-April to mid-November, but not make it a year around cabin.
The overall project will add insulation from footings up to the attic, new windows, and exterior wall
insulation. We are proposing three small additions: one functional bedroom to replace a very small
existing bedroom,a lakeside porch to enjoy the views, and a small private porch away from the
neighbors.
The existing small bedroom will become bathroom space and, although the living room is the least used
space, it will function in much the same way-as an area to escape a rainy day with games, crafts or a
movie. The living room will give up some space for a new entry location and mechanical room. There will
be new roof framing over the living room and existing entry deck for improved weather-proofing and
aesthetic reasons. The existing bath is going to become a hallway to the new bedroom.
The dining room, kitchen, bedroom#1 and existing porch will remain very much the same. Other than
the excavations for the new crawlspaces, the yard will be unchanged. The turn-around portion of the
driveway will be moved slightly to accommodate the roadside addition. Two trees will need to be
removed to allow for the new driveway location. We have learned that the keeping the driveway as grass
is best for dust control and to prevent washouts. Therefore, no new gravel or other driveway
improvements are planned.
The additions are staked and ready for your review. Feel free to contact me with any questions you have.
I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
David &Tania Gray JUN 9 ' 2023
Burnett County
Lend Services Department
