file:///Untitled
Dear Donna and Gerry,
I am assuming you are referring to section 14 in LaFollette Township. I have not seen a 1910 survey in
that area but I think you are wise to get a survey before investing in improvements without knowing where
the boundaries are. In looking at our records, we are missing some of the Original Government Corners in
that section that would be needed to define your lines. Burnett County has a remonumentation program
that is now active in LaFollette Township. The County pays for the restoration of Orginal Government
Corners only, you would have to pay a private surveyor to establish your boundaries. However, your costs
are greatly reduced by the county's investment.
I will consider your email a request for section 14 to be completed. This year we are working in the
southwest quadrant of the township. I begin the budget process in July of this year for 2001 and hopefully
we will be able to include your area. If you are not able to wait another year, the cost of restoration will be
part of your survey expense.
We do have a digital orthophoto of section 14 and that may be helpful along with other information. Our
office hours are 8:30 to 4:30,Monday through Friday if you would like to bring the 1910 map in. Please
call before you come, so we can be certain to be here when you come. Our number is 715-349-2599.
Kathy
Donna& Gerry wrote:
June 8,2000 To:Kathleen Swingle,County Surveyor/LIO I'm writing in regards to Government Lot 2 on Pokegema Lake in
LaFollette Township. We would like to build a building on our property and have a question as to the exact boundary of our
property. We need to have it surveyed before we can continue with our building. In our inquiring about the property
boundaries we think there is a misunderstanding as to where the property line is. We thought it followed the South line but
when we saw the map of the 1910 survey it seems according to that survey we are incorrect. We would like to have this done
as soon as possible so we can continue with our plans and know we are not infringing on someone else's property. Thanks for
you help.
