BURNETT COUNTY
LAND & WATER CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT
7410 County Road K,#109
Siren,WI 54872
Telephone: (715)349-2186 Fax: (715)349-2102
DATE: May 27,2008
TO: Burnett County Zoning Dept.
FROM: Paul Cook,Conservation Specialist
RE: Gerald Jeschke, In-ground stairs application, Mallard Lake,012.4235.07.200
On May 19, 1 conducted a site visit and reviewed plans for in-ground stairs to Mallard Lake.
I am approving the plan for stairs as submitted with the following restrictions:
1) As indicated on the plan, the old stairvaytwalkway must be properly abandoned and
vegetated as these areas are outside the new viewing and access corridor
2) No new path can be built. The old path South of the new proposed stairway should be
properly vegetated as it is also outside the viewinglaccess corridor. The in-ground stairway is
the access to the lake, the new proposed path will not be allowed.
There was evidence of ATV traffic up and down the steep, sandy, slope. The new path is probably
proposed to be used for this type of traffic. Without hard armoring, this will quickly erode and cause
problems. Hard armoring would require an additional path/lake access which is not allowed under this
permit.
