Zoning Committee Meeting
April 3, 2001
Page 4
Motion made by Bohn to APPROVE Conditional Permit #1158 subject to Mr. Anderson
selling only the wood furniture and he will be manufacturing. No commercial retail of
any other items unless he gets the property rezoned to commercial. The outside display
area size will be limited to 50'x100' with a 100' side yard setback from the neighbor to
the east. Motion seconded by Wedin.
CONDITIONAL PERMIT#1155—ERICKSON
At last month's meeting, this conditional permit was granted with the condition that an
existing boathouse was to be removed. Mr. Erickson wanted to address the Committee
with new information that was not presented at last month's meeting. He wants to build a
new storage building with a bunkhouse upstairs and put plumbing in it. He does not want
to remove the boathouse. A new layout was shown with the proposed location of the new
building. It was demonstrated that this property could be divided and the buildings stand
on their own parcel. He has approximately 600' of shoreline on Class 2 Tabor Lake.
Motion made by Peterson to AMEND Conditional Permit #1155 to allow this new
storage building to be located in such a manner that it could stand on its own parcel and
to allow the existing boathouse to remain. The storage building/bunkhouse will not be
used as a residence or a rental building. Subject to all other permit requirements. Motion
seconded by Bohn. Motion carried. - \
NORTON SURVEYING
Mike Norton presented a preliminary plat on enzie Lake to the Committee. Tom
Schaffer, the prospective buyer, was also present. The property is also coming up at the
next county board rezone meeting. The rezone request is from RR-3 to RR-1. This plat
has 6 proposed lots. The concerns discussed were the access road, floodplain and the
cranberry dikes. Motion made by Peterson to approve this preliminary plat subject to
obtaining access road approval, floodplain elevations, soil borings, and receiving a report
from the Township. Motion seconded by Wedin. Motion carried.
The Committee reviewed the other upcoming rezone in Swiss Township.
OTHER BUSINESS
A letter was received from Richard Lawrence regarding splitting some farmland and
giving 20 acres to his son. The question was whether this would still qualify as exclusive
ag land. Flanigan thought that it met the objections of the ordinance. He has talked to
the Department of Ag. The intention of the ag zone is to keep the farm in the family.
The Committee agreed with Flanigan and allowed this land to remain in exclusive ag.
Flanigan noted that there are currently no provisions for a permit fee for a commercial
and/or industrial accessory building.
