Bare areas with more sunlight should be planted with plants listed for area#21 spaced
12-18 inches apart. This includes the area where the sailboat currently sits. An equal
mixture of part-shade tolerant flowers and grasses are listed on the site plan.
Substitutions could be chosen from the Woodland Edge—Oak Pine Barrens list.
Instructions for planting seedlings are included in the landowner guide.
Plant shrubs as indicated on the site plan. You may substitute from the Pine or Oak
Forest list in shady areas and Woodland Edge—Oak Pine Barrens list near the water if
desired. Choose at least 2 different shrub species for your restoration. Shrubs may be
transplanted from nearby wooded areas. Be aware that there are some invasive, non-
native shrubs such as honeysuckle and buckthorn that are common in woodlands in
Burnett County. Bare root seedlings and transplants, which are very economical, are
generally available in the spring from county-sponsored sales or directly from suppliers
in larger quantities.
Viewing/Access Corridor
A 30-foot wide viewing/access corridor is allowed as indicated on the site drawing. Uses
such as fire pits and boat/canoe storage should be concentrated in the corridor or outside
of the buffer zone.
3: September 1,2000
