ATTACHMENT TO CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT APPLICATION
BURNETT COUNTY ZONING ADMINISTRATION
APPLICANT: Jim and Colleen Hammer APPLICATION DATE: September 12, 1997
PROPOSED USE:
We propose to construct and operate a public golf course in the SE1/4 of Section 14 of Daniels Township.
The proposed facility will consist of an 18-hole, regulation-length, par-72, golf course. The primary
components of the proposed course will be elevated tees, fairways, rough areas, putting greens, and an
irrigation system. The proposed irrigation system will consist of a well, storage pond, pumphouse, and an
underground, electronically-controlled sprinkler system.
Also proposed is a practice range, parking lot, practice green, and temporary clubhouse in the southeast
portion of the property. The proposed temporary clubhouse will a mobilehome-type structure. A potable
water well and private sewer system will be included in the clubhouse area. We plan to replace the
temporary clubhouse with a permanent structure in the same area, utilizing the same well and sewer
systems within a few years.
Also proposed will be a maintenance building in the southwest portion of the property. A potable water well
and private sewer system will be included in the maintenance building area.
Applicable permits will be obtained to construct the proposed facilities. The golf course design preserves
the existing topography and minimizes the number of holes adjacent to the property's small bodies of water
and the seasonal drainageway in between them. The proposed golf holes only cross the wetland areas. A
35-feet-wide vegetative buffer strip will be maintained adjacent to the wetland areas during construction.
Erosion control measures will be taken to retain topsoil during construction.
The proposed golf course is committed to establishing and maintaining a healthy balance between the
natural elements and the improvements. As a business, we will immediately start the process of becoming
a Certified Cooperative Sanctuary in the Audubon Society's Cooperative Sanctuary Program for golf
courses. This program promotes ecologically sound land management practices and the conservation of
natural resources. The program provides an advisory information service on how to conduct proactive
environmental projects for golf courses. To become certified, we will have to complete and manage
projects in seven achievement categories consisting of Environmental Planning, Public Involvement,
Wildlife Cover Enhancement, Wildlife Food Enhancement, Integrated Pest Management, Water
Conservation, and Water Enhancement.
The proposed golf course will be owned and operated by Jim and Colleen Hammer as a family business.
Our goal is to become a respected, enjoyable, quality golf course. The vision statement for our business is
attached.
NAMES AND ADDRESSES OF ADJOINING PROPERTY OWNERS:
/Denis and Elizabeth Simonsen Niles Peterson
8851 Waldora Road 23789 Peterson Road
Siren, WI 54872 Siren, WI 54872
,Edward Fischer Hugh Schilling
8570 Waldora Road % 8161 Elbow Lake Road
Siren, WI 54872 Siren, WI 54872
,Arthur Beckmark Vernon Peterson
8876 Waldora Road 23787 Peterson Road
Siren, WI 54872 v Siren, WI 54872
