DARLENE J. LEONARD
301 NE LINCOLN DR.
WYOMING, MN 55092
September 23, 2002
Mr. Jim Flanigan,Zoning Administrator
Burnett County Zoning Administration
Burnett County Government Center
7410 County Road K #102
Siren, Wisconsin 54872
Dear Mr. Flanigan:
This is in response the your letter dated 9106102. It states that you spoke tome about
the contents of your letter. I was not at my cabin when you were there, the workmen
were the only people there. They promptly left, when I got therein the evening no one
was there.
The workers you spoke to did not remove the old deck, my brother did that in January
2002, except for items that had to wait until the frost came out My brother wasn't at
the cabin when you were there either.
The letter dated 9106102 is the first notification I have had from you, as we have
never met, or had any other type of correspondence. The workmen did not tell me you
were looking for pictures, when I checked with them, they said you told them you had
pictures proving the deck wasn't there. That is not possible.
My brother went into your office the week following the Tornado to see if we needed a
building permit to replace the deck or do any repairs. He was told, we did not, as
long as we were replacing and not adding to the house structure itself. Which we did
not. We proceeded as per your offices'instructions. The cabin was built in May of
1965. I am the only owner it has had
The deck actually has less square footage now than it did before the Tornado. What
we also have less of is trees for shade.
For the rear decking we used what lumber we could from the old deck. To cut cost we
made the rear deck width narrower. In the front, I had the corners angled on the
east and west end of the deck, also making less square footage of decking in the front.
The necessary height, with the edges square, in the past, had allowed a few heads to
hit the corner. Also, the railing was brought up to code. No railing was installed
anyplace on the decking that did not have railing before.
I Telephone 651-464-1533 Fax 651-982-6855
