Zoning Committee Meeting
May 4, 1999
Page 5
Brad Johnson: He is a Lakeshore property owner on McKenzie Lake. He spoke against
this request for himself and for many other taxpayers on the lake. He showed an exhibit
with pictures and a short history of the campground and noted the violations.
Tom Gall: He spoke in support of this request? He stated that he is not against Mr.
Petersen's request. He told the Committee to check lake quality studies.
George Kuechle: He spoke in support of this request? He talked about the number of
dwelling units and said that the numbers are very distorted.
Jesse Snelson: He talked about the continuous record of how Mr. Peterson ignores
permit/ordinance requirements. His concerns were also the repeated violations, noise
ordinance, and filling of wetlands without permits.
Warren Pratt: Said his concerns had been covered.
Richard Borseth: Said his concerns had been covered.
Orris Haraldson: Does not want to see more traffic problems and no more jet skis. He
was concerned about docks that belong to the campers and the trailer houses that stay
there year around.
Public hearing closed.
Motion made by Peterson to table conditional permit #1117 until the June 15t Committee
meeting so that the Committee could do an onsite inspection of the campground and to
give Mr. Petersen more time to provide a more accurate map of his proposals. Motion
second by Alderman. Motion carried.
Review of Conditional Permit#1018—Stellrecht
Larry Stellrecht had this conditional permit to reopen and operate a gravel pit granted on
7/5/94. The initial grant is good for 5 years with possible 3 year renewals. This request
is to renew this permit for another 3 years. We did not set it up for a public hearing, but
did send out notices to adjoining neighbors and the Township of this renewal request. No
objections were heard or received. Motion made by Peterson to approve a 3 year renewal
for conditional permit#1018, second by Alderman. Motion carried.
Review of Conditional Permit#1098—Isaacson (Yellow Lake Mobile Home Park)
At the 5/5/98 Zoning Committee meeting, Mr. Isaacson was granted a conditional permit
for a senior adult manufactured home rental park. There are a total of 18 lots for
manufactured homes. They were allowing room for 12'x16' sheds. Mr. Isaacson is now
asking if it would be okay to put 24'x24' garages on the lots in lieu of these sheds.
