4/12/05
Mr. Craig Conroy or Jim Flannigan:
I am writing this letter to explain why I am sending in for a new building permit for my cabin on
Lake 26. The address is 30016 Lakes Drive and I know that both of you are somewhat familiar
with this case. Last year in April or May, I submitted to the zoning office a plan to build a
10'x20' addition with the same size deck in front of it towards the lake. I am enclosing the plans
for what has been built. There are a couple of reasons why I built the addition to 14'x14' and an
8'-10'x14' deck in front of the addition towards the lake. The first reason was that I had
problems with the septic tank being in the way. I did not realize that this was a problem until I
started to layout the footings for the project. This caused me to shorten the length of the addition
from 20' to 14'. This change was also driven by the fact that I could not handle the size of the
20' trusses very easily. Thus I decided to make them 14'. At this time I called the office and
asked if I needed to update my permit and mentioned that I was going to start on the project but I
knew that the permit was going to expire in May of 2004. The person that I spoke with stated
that since the addition was smaller that I would not have to submit any further plans. I also
wanted to renew my permit but she said that was not necessary either. This is what led to our
conversations over the past 2 months. In any event, it appears that there was some
miscommunication on the part of both parties and this letter is being sent to try to rectify that
situation. I have enclosed the sketches for the addition and deck as they are built. I am also
enclosing the fee that you stipulated for a new permit. If it is deemed that I should have to pay
double the fee, please let me know and I will gladly send the remaining balance to you in short
order. I want to thank both of you for your support in this matter and I am sorry if I caused any
problems. My intent was to always follow the zoning rules and regulations.
Thank you both again for your time and consideration in this matter.
Sincerely:
R j
Jeff Koenigsmark
