Pg. 2of10
Plan Narrative
Carl Bandt is planning an addition to his lake cabin located at 27862 Leef Rd. located in Jackson
Township in Barnett County. Carl's plan is to add bedrooms to the current structure which will
require a revision to the existing sanitary system in the form of the addition of an aerobic
treatment unit.
In.lune of 2009 a new sanitary system was installed under State Sanitary permit# 532141. The
site required an individual site design and the transaction ID# was 1593562 and the site ID#was
742915. The new system addressed Carl's need for surge capacity as the cabins use involved
limited use during the week with an increase in flow starting Friday aftemoon and continuing
through the weekend as family members arrived. The initial plan was to pre-treat the wastewater
taking advantage of the downsizing capabilities ac there is very limited area for sighting a
sanitary system. The initial estimates for the new system including pre-treatment was more
expensive than anticipated so we went to Plan B which involved an individual site design basing
the wastewater flow on the entire week versus a single day. This design incorporated the use of
surge capacity based on a flow equalization table of the weeks expected water use. The proposal
also had to address the removal of an existing 12' x 40' drain field. This drain field was removed
and the new systems dispersal cells lowered below the current sanitary systems elevation. By
removing the existing system we also removed the required insitu soils that were to allow for the
Eisa credit. This was addressed in the original individual site design and was agreed that the
Astm-C33 sand would provide a suitable equivalency to the insitu sandy soils removed.Three
dispersal cells constructed of EZ Flow media were installed with 3 R of Astra C-33 sand placed
between the cells.
'rhe treatment train consists of a Wieser Concrete 750 gallon septic tank gravity flowing to a
Norwesco 1250 gallon surge tank fitted with duplex pumps. The surge tank has an Installer
Friendly Series single phase duplex (Demandrrime Dose)panel. This panel can be configured in
the field to either time or demand dose. A Simtech STF-100 effluent filter is located within the
force main loop handling the filtering requirements. It is noteworthy to state here that a gap in
the treatment was saved for a future pretreatment unit.
Our current proposal is to add a Bio-Microbies MicroNst 0.75 pretreatment unit capable of
handling up to 750 gallons per day. This unit will be installed in an Infiltrator Systems IM-1 060
injection molded plastic tank upstream of the existing duplex time dose tank. The dose tank will
be reconfigured to time dose 100.60 gallons including drain back every 3 hours. The treated
wastewater will be dispersed to the three existing 3 ft. x 50 ft. dispersal cells giving us a total of
150 lineal feet. The design wastewater flow of 750 gallons/day/150 lineal ft. gives us lineal
loading rate of 5.0 gals./ft./day
By the addition of this aerobic treatment unit we have provided the necessary tools for treating
and dispersing the wastewater from Mr. Bandt's cabin for the foreseeable future.
