Individual Site Design and Plan Narrative
The objective of this individual site design is to create a new sanitary system that replaces and
increases the capacity of the current two-bedroom system to a one-bedroom system with a surge
capacity of up to 600 gal./day design wastewater flow for Saturdays and Sundays and an
average design flow dosed to the replacement system of 311 gal. /day for the Carl Bandt property
located at 27862 Leef Rd.,Jackson Tnsp.- Burnett County.
The property under consideration for a replacement sanitary system consists of a narrow
waterfront property approx. 192' x 200' deep. Site constraints consist of the lakeshore setbacks,
a wetland area and the existing structure. The primary motivation for the sewer expansion is to
provide additional capacity for weekend use that exceeds the current systems design parameters.
A secondary reason is the possibility of adding additional bedrooms to the structure in the future.
The following is a flow equalization table prepared for Carl Bandt. Carl has a lake cabin on
North Sand Lake in Burnett County. Carl has asked me to design a system to address peak flows
on weekends that exceed the current two-bedroom systems capacity. Our first attempt was to
design a system using pretreatment allowing us to design a five bedroom system taking
advantage of downsizing as Carl has very limited area on which to place a replacement system.
As this initial plan became too expensive for him, I'm submitting an alternative design to
generate surge capacity for these high use weekends.
I used the following rationale for developing a weekly wastewater flow for his cabin. As with
most cabins, the time frame between mid May and September have the highest wastewater flows.
Carl's use of the cabin is typically weekends and occasionally he and his wife will stay during
the week.
Frida Satur!!1600
Sunda MondayTuesda Wednesday Thursday
Design 375 600 150 150 150 150
Flow
I calculated Friday's estimated flow of 2 people at 100 gal. /day and 6 people visiting @ 25 gal.
/day using the estimated flow rate for a camp day/night per patron from the Public Facility
Wastewater Flows Table 4., for a total estimated flow of 250 gal. I believe we can justify using
this flow rate, as this use is similar to a camp in regards to meals served and overnight
accommodations with no laundry. Typical activities include use of the beach and grilling
outdoors which further saves on water consumption.
Saturdays and Sundays I used a high of 12 people at 25 gals. /person equaling 300 gals_ and 100
gals. for Mom and Dad for a total of 400 gal. estimated.
Mondays thru Thursday the estimated flow would drop to zero or 100 gals. estimated for Carl
and Mary.
By using the guidelines for flow equalization set forth by the Dept. of Commerce I have
designed a system that should help Carl with the times of the year he experiences these excess
