BURNETT COUNTY
LAND & WATER CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT
7410 County Road K,#109
Siren,WI 54872
Telephone:(715)349-2186 Fax:(715)349-2102
February 6, 2004
Lowell and Melinda Severson
294 N. 6' Street
Bayport, MN 55003
Dear Lowell and Melinda:
On February 4, I visited your property at 27804 Yellow Lake Rd. to make a
determination on your land use permit submitted to the Burnett County Zoning
Department. You indicated that you would like to remove the existing treated timber
retaining wall and replace it with a block wall.
You will be permitted to remove the one existing timber retaining wall and replace it
with a block retaining wall, however, the following requirements must be met:
- any excavation required should be kept to a very small area necessary to remove
and replace the one existing wall
- keep soil disturbance to a minimum and seed and mulch any areas of bare soil
immediately after project completion
- only remove the one existing wall and replace with a wall of equal or lesser
dimensions, in the exact same location as the wall is now
The permit application indicated that you would like to install two retaining walls. After
review of the site, a second retaining wall, along the north side of the cabin is not
necessary and will not be permitted. While the slope there is relatively steep, it has
been held in place by grasses and shrubs and should remain stable due to adequate
vegetative cover. I've enclosed the drawing to further illustrate what will and will not be
permitted. If you have any further question, please feel free to contact me at 715-349-
2186.
Sincerely,
ra"a). 0
Paul D.
