BURNETT COUNTY
LAND & WATER CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT
7410 County Road K,#109
Siren, Wl 54872
Telephone: (715)349-2186 Fax: (715)349-2102
DATE: August 7, 2006
TO: Burnett County Zoning Dept.
FROM: Paul Cook, Conservation Specialist VV_
RE: Grading Permits: Tedd Peterson, 3140 Kilstrom, Birch Island Lake
Mark Landis, 3158 Kilstrom, Birch Island Lake
On July 19, 1 submitted a recommendation to deny these grading permits. My
recommendation for denial still stands, however, after further discussion with the
landowner and meeting with him at the site, it became clear that an improved lake access
is what the landowner wants. The landowner would still like to grade a significant area
of the shoreline for unknown reasons. A simple set of in-ground stairs would satisfy the
request for improving the lake access. I recommend granting the permit for in-ground
stairs with the condition that there is to be no grading with equipment and no
removal of the existing bank beyond what is necessary to build a few steps. I
discussed this with the landowner and informed him of my recommendations.
