Management Plans - Holding Tanks <br />The Private Onsite Wastewater Treatment System(POWTS) has been designed, and is to be installed and maintained <br />According Comm SPS 383, Wis. Admin. Code, Holding Tank Component Manual for Private Onsite Wastewater Systems. <br />1. This POWTS has been designed to accommodate a maximum daily flow of x,50 gallons of domestic wastewater per day. <br />2. The owner of this POWTS is responsible for system operation and maintenance, locking device, alarm and access. <br />3. The owner or owner's agent is required to submit reports as required by s.Comm SPS 383.55 (1), Wis. Admin. Code <br />to the County or other appropriate jurisdiction and/or the department. <br />4. Design approval and site inspections before, during, and after the construction are accomplished by the county or other <br />appropriate jurisdiction in accordance with ch. Comm SPS 383 of the Wis. Admin. Code. <br />5. Meter installation. A water meter is installed on the water supply discharging to the holding tank. All exterior hydrants <br />are excluded from the metered flow. The meter is installed downstsream of all point -of -entry water treatment devices. <br />A control valve is installed on each side of the meter. <br />6. Alarm installation. The alarm float is set to turn on the alarm when liquid volume is at 12" below tank inlet invert or <br />at 90% of liquid capacity of the tank below the tank inlet invert. Alarm wiring is installed in accordance with <br />NEC 300 and ILHR 16.23, Wis Admin. Code. <br />7. Maintenance cycle. The holding tank must be serviced by licensed pumpers. An alarm system is installed to activate <br />when the tank is <=90% full. Water is conservation should be practiced at this point. <br />8. Performance monitoring. At the time of servicing, the service provider files a report with the department or designated agent <br />9 Anytime a failure or malfunction occurs, it shall be reported to the person(s) identified in the user's manual for this POWTS. <br />10. No one should enter a holding tank for any reason without being full compliance with OSHA standards for entering a <br />confined space. The atmosphere within these tanks may contain lethal gases, and rescue of a person from the interior of the <br />tank may be difficult or impossible. <br />11. In the event that this POWTS or a component of the POWTS fails and cannot be repaired, it must be replaced. <br />12.
