BURNETT COUNTY ZONING ADMINISTRATION <br />BURNETT COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER <br />7410 COUNTY ROAD K, #102 <br />SIREN, WISCONSIN 54872 <br />December 16, 2004 <br />James and Marlene Byers <br />23327 State Road 48/87 <br />Grantsburg, WI 54840 <br />Dear Mr. And Mrs. Byers: <br />PHONE (715) 349-2138 <br />On June 17, 2004 the Town of Grantsburg was approved as part of the Burnett County Land <br />Use/Zoning Ordinance Program. The Town of Grantsburg developed a new Land Use/Zoning <br />map establishing zoning districts and approved the permitted uses in each district as per the <br />Burnett County Land Use Ordinance. The Burnett County Land Use/Zoning Office now <br />administers this Land Use/Zoning program for the Town of Grantsburg. <br />The Burnett County Land Use/Zoning Ordinance defines a salvage yard as "a lot, land or <br />structure, or part thereof, used for the collecting, storage or sale of wastepaper, rags, scrap metal <br />or discarded material; or for the collecting, dismantling, storage or salvaging of machinery or <br />vehicles not in running condition or for the sale of parts thereof." <br />Although any salvage yard existing prior to the Town of Grantsburg adopting of the Burnett <br />County Land Use/Zoning Ordinance would be considered "grandfathered" at it's current location, <br />the ordinance does require operation information, setbacks, and screening to be provided as per <br />Section 6.3(4) of the ordinance (see enclosed). <br />Your property has been identified as meeting the salvage yard definition. Please review the <br />enclosed requirements under Section 6.3(4) and submit necessary information. <br />Much of the screening requirements per Section 7.0 (see enclosed) can be met with the planting <br />of a coniferous tree screen.
