December 7, 2018
Mr. Grant Holzhueter, Board Member
Camp Croix Association, Inc.
802 Maple Grove Road
Duluth, MN 55811
Dear Mr. Holzheuter:
rz-
Tis, g
7
r g
OFC - 7 2018
Land Services
Upon arriving at the Zoning Committee Meeting on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, I was informed
by Norm Bickford, the Chairperson of the committee that we were in for a short meeting. He
suggested I speak with Jason Towne, the Zoning Administrator and he informed me that Camp
Croix had rescinded their application for a CUP and would potentially return in 4-6 months with
a new plan.
This news was very welcoming on one hand, but very disheartening on the other. As chair of the
Town of Scott Board of Supervisors, I would have appreciated an email from you personally. As
you know, that did not happen. As in your past practice, I am left with the feeling that you have
no semblance of regard for the Town of Scott Board and wish to continue on a secretive, vague
and lack of any communication with the Town of Scott Board.
If Camp Croix is indeed wanting to develop the camp further, I suggest you scale down your
project, be increasingly more specific about your plans and make every effort to involve the
Town of Scott Board early on in the process. If you choose not to involve us, I can assure you
that we will research every avenue within the law to prevent Camp Croix from proceeding
further.
I look forward to hearing from you and Camp Croix in the future.
Sincerely,
Jeffry J. McIntyre, Chairperson
Town of Scott Board of Supervisors
cc: John Vanous, Supervisor
Bill Sobaski, Supervisor
Jason Towne, Zoning Administrator
