August 8, 2014
Thomas Green
6341 Crosby Ave
Inver Grove Heights, MN 55076
RE: Septic System Failure
Burnett County Zoning Administration
Burnett County Government Center
7410 COUNTY ROAD K, #102
SIREN, WISCONSIN 54872
PHONE (715) 349-2138
7x 1510-3
Local Address:
1959 Eagle Ln
Spooner, WI 54801
As I mentioned on July 21, 2014 when I met you at the property, I stopped back to
inspect the depth of the drywells at your cabin (7/29/2014 approx. 10:30 AM).
I determined that the current septic is a failing private septic system according to WI
Admin Code 145.245(4)(a), because it discharges sewage/effluent into groundwater. One of the
drywells is approximately the same elevation as the ordinary high water mark of Benoit Lake
and the other is 7 inches above.
Septic systems with in -ground dispersal components installed prior to December 1, 1969
(such as yours) are required to have 2 feet of separation from groundwater. If sewage is being
discharged with less suitable soil below, it is not being properly treated before re-entering
groundwater/drinking water.
Therefore, you are hereby ordered to replace your failing private onsite wastewater treatment
system. Contact me immediately to establish a timeline for replacement. My office hours are
Monday -Friday from 8:30-4:30.
Thanks,
Craig Dantoin
Burnett County Zoning & POWTS Specialist
Sanitary permit # SAN-15-36 issued on 4/28/15 resolved this issue. 3/14/2019 JT
