April 30, 2019 MAY 6 1Uij
Burnett County
Jason Towne Land Services Department
Land Services Dept. Director
7410 Co Rd K#120
Siren, WI 54872
Dear Mr.Towne
Per a request from David Grindell, Corporation Counsel, dated April 11, 2019, 1 am sending you this
proposal regarding Knauf Lane.
Purpose:
• Add the Knauf Lane road to WISLR.
• Transfer Knauf Lane road to Meenon Township as a classification T1 road.
History:
• Knauf Lane was approved and recorded as an outlot on August 7, 1979. Reference Burnett
County Survey map#1301.
• This property has a 66-foot right of way along its entire length, with a wider turn-around at its
west end.
• Various easements have been granted for this property, starting in 1983,with the most recent
granted on August 29, 1997.
• On October 8, 1998, Burnett County took over ownership of this property by tax title. Deed title
Doc#318085.
Issues:
• Improvements and maintenance to Knauf Lane road since 1983 has been done by the property
owners served by Knauf Lane.
• The tax deed from October 1998 does not indicate easement grants for Knauf Lane. It is unclear
as to whether Burnett County needed to grant easements because the road was acquired by tax
title.
• The Knauf Lane road is presently not listed on WISLR.
• There is some discrepancy on various PLAT maps and CVT maps as to what designates Knauf
Lane. For example, does it extend to the north and south from the turn-around at the west end
of the certified map 1301?
Requests:
• Burnett County restore Knauf Lane road to meet T1 road standards.
• Meenon Township take over maintenance of Knauf Lane.
