Planting Plan
Hertzl Camp Association Inc
27332 State Road 35
Devils Lake
Comp No.: 020.4333.05.700
Stairway Screening
Plant as indicated on the Planting Plan Diagram. The labels represent where the different plants
should be planted but not the number of plants. Measure the area to be planted and follow the
planting density to determine the number of plants needed. Use staggered rows when planting.
When buying plants, use the scientific rather than the common name (which can be used for
more than one plant species).
Additional screening may be necessary if the planting is not successful. Regular watering (daily
during dry periods the first season of installation) is needed for a successful planting.
ID Common Name Scientific Name Spacing Width of Planting
OD Oxeye Daisy (yellow)Heliopsis helianthoides 1 ft. 3 ft. (staggered rows)
Erosion Control
Complete the planting of Little Bluestem and Bush Honeysuckle along the steep slopes adjacent
to the stairway. Do not substitute non-native honeysuckles as these are invasive, undesirable
plants.
Complete the planting of Black Chokeberry for partial screening of the walkway. Plant native
flowers and grasses along the ordinary high water mark (this is the slope below the beach house
deck and to the north) to stabilize the bank.
All plantings will need regular watering.
ID Common Name Scientific Name Spacing Width of Planting
BH Bush Honeysuckle Diervilla lonicera 1.5 ft.
