We can issue a
filling/grading permit to place fill within 10 ft of the cabin to help preserve the foundation. You will need some erosion
control structures for this project, so a qualified contractor should be used.
Here is a link to the application form: https://www.burnettcounty.com/DocumentCenter/View/3778
Any fill more than 10 ft away from the cabin would be regulated by the DNR as I believe that would be considered lake
bed.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Jason
From: Harrington, Dan - DNR<Dan.Harrington@wisconsin.gov>
Sent: Monday,June 15, 2020 6:36 PM
To:Jeremiah Mohr<jeremiah.g.mohr1216@gmail.com>
Cc: Patrick, Keith A- DNR<Keith.Patrick@wisconsin.gov>;Towne,Jason <jtowne@burnettcounty.org>
Subject: FW: Water issue at cabin - Poquette Lake, Burnett County
Thank you for out chat last Friday, and submitting the photos as I requested.
I really do not have a good answer for you, as this cabin has been inundated by water every time the water levels
rise. ALL northern Wisconsin waters on inland lakes are at all-time highs. If and when the go down is anyone's guess.
If you are wishing to place unconsolidated materials around this cabin to save the foundation, a permit will likely be
needed from Burnett County zoning—copied.
I really empathize with your family cabin situation. I can offer suggestions, but I think you know there is a cost benefit
analysis. Do we elevate the cabin in hopes of lower water levels in the future, or, do nothing (I know that is not an
option btw), or seek permits from County Zoning dealing with flood elevation issues, and then your septic system, and
drinking water well issues will arise too boot.
We are committed to service excellence.
Visit our survey at http://dnr.wi.gov/customersurvey to evaluate how I did.
Dan Harrington
Phone:(715)733-0019
Dan.Harrington@Wisconsin.gov
From:Jeremiah Mohr<jeremiah.g.mohr1216@gmail.com>
Sent: Friday,June 12, 2020 7:23 PM
1
