06/01/2010 TUE 8: 52 FAX 2001/002
6/1/2010
To :Jim Flanigan 715-349-2166
From : Brian Bakken
Jim,
This is additional information for the stairs permit that I applied for. I also have pictures of the run I
have planned for the stairs that 1 can email you so you can get a better feeling for the hill and what I'm
facing in regard to the lake front.
I took a closer look at options for the last 8-10 feet of the run on the hill as it is pretty steep. Looking at
the hill from the lake I also see that I have a pretty severe erosion problem where the water is actually
undercutting the bank. (different problem but I believe the county has some solutions for that which I
will have to look at) I have put a couple of images in this fax but don't know how well they will show up.
The location where I plan on having the doc is the shortest drop from the hill to the lake, but even that is
about 4-5 feet down to the water. In the top picture on the next page you can get a relative feel for the
bank as the steps you see are 12' planks that are resting on the lake bottom.
I'm struggling with trying to keep the steps from being too short but yet be able to make the drop
needed. I also need to make sure the last sections are able to be removed to get the dock out in the
winter.
In the original plan I sent you it had the bottom sections at an angle to the 410 platform. I have looked
at coming straight down to 2 90 degree turns as shown below, but I don't believe that helps the
situation and I might be forced to cut into the bank a bit to work with the
{{elevations to make it work.
i It0(.J
f K r G
04J (N Gti' S ri
444 dot' y
_
Any suggestions you have in regard to what the county will allow or not allow are welcome. I am
traveling for work this afternoon but will try giving you a call today about this.
Brian Bakken
Office 763-450-2319 Cell 651-216-6920
