Town of Oakland, Burnett County, Wisconsin
Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes
June 11, 2020
The regular monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman, Wayne Larrabee. All
Board members were in attendance. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of
Allegiance followed by a prayer offered by Lynda Weber.
The minutes from the May meeting were reviewed. Harm Weber moved to approve the
minutes as presented; Tim McIntyre seconded the motion. The motion to approve
carried.
Julie Hinz and Rick Hopkins presented their proposed plans for constructing public
storage units on Gables Road; they have applied for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for a
zoning change for 6.89 acres within a 40-acre parcel on Gables Road to be used for
public storage units. The parcel is zoned "industrial" and storage units are not allowed
in an industrial area. When asked about neighbors, Ricky indicated there is a vacant 10-
acre lot between his parcel and the one owned by Gladys Feuerhake. The initial plan is
to put up one building in 2020 but the drawing presented accounted for future growth
to as many as ten buildings. Discussion among the Board members indicated that Ricky
had addressed all concerns they'd expressed. Tim McIntyre questioned whether a fire
truck could get around all of the buildings; Ricky indicated that actual placement of the
buildings could be made to accommodate emergency vehicle access. A motion was
made by Harm Weber that the Town notify the Land Use Committee that they have no
objection to the request for a Zoning Change/CUP provided the buildings are placed
such that there is four-sided access for the fire department to all buildings; the motion
was seconded by Tim McIntyre and passed. Subsequent discussion led to an amended
motion by Harm Weber to approve the plan as submitted provided all storage is inside
the buildings with no shrink-wrapped vehicles or boats stored outside. The motion was
seconded by Tim McIntyre and passed. Because Ricky and Julie had already left the
meeting, Sherri) will send an e-mail to Ricky explaining the amended motion.
Copies of the May 2020 Treasurer's Report were presented by Lynda Weber. Tim
McIntyre motioned to accept the report as presented; Harm Weber seconded the
motion. The motion carried.
Sherril presented the May invoices for payment. Tim McIntyre motioned to approve the
invoices as presented; Harm Weber seconded and the motion carried. Harm noted that
there was no timesheet for Judd Mosher and made a motion that Judd be paid as soon
as he submits his timesheet rather than waiting for the next Board meeting; the motion
was seconded by Tim McIntyre and carried.
In an update from the Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update Committee it was reported
that the subcommittee met yesterday and completed their review of the old Plan with
comments from all subcommittee members. The subcommittee will meet again on June
Page 1 of 3
