, Land use permits have been issued in the past regarding these exact parcels for the exact same purposes we were requesting this time (LUP-17-289 and LUP-17-2017) without issue but this year was much different. Section 45-386(2) requires one unit per lot; private on-site water treatment system; no camping unit can be less than 75 feet from the ordinary high water mark, not less than 25 feet from the side lot line and not less than 40 feet from a wetland and cannot be allowed on the lot for more than six months per year. The property was struck by the Siren tornado years ago and it was filled with down trees, debris, and thick brush. Before we started it was a dangerous fire hazard. We spend two entire summers cleaning up all the trees and rubbish, had the stumps hauled away, the landscape evened and grass planted. There are 3 couples who did all the physical labor (it wasn't hired out) and wish to camp for 6 months. Bill and Linda Sears, both in their 70's, Kim and Rob Johnson, both in their 50's, and Bryan and Lori McCann, in their 50's. Parents, two children, and their spouse. The health of 3 of these individuals have taken a dramatic turn since then and the financial and physical resources invested cannot be repeated on a new piece of property.
