Towne, Jason
From: juliskillman@gmail.com
Sent: Monday, September 21, 2020 7:09 PM
To: Towne, Jason
Subject: RE: Burnett County WI
Dear Jason,
Thank you for listening to my concerns over the phone last week& providing me with advice & contact information. I
was unable to open the email addresses but talked with Craig Conroy&Steve Austin. Steve gave me a his email so he
has a copy of the Iletter also. There was mention that maybe the DNR may to be involved. Here is a letter we drafted to
address the problem. Please advise on further action that might be beneficial. Thanks again.
We are writing to express serious concern over Voyager Village's desire to add more dock slips on Lake Little Bear. We
have lived "on" this lake for over 25 years and are very concerned by the volume of boat traffic and its impact on the
shoreline and wildlife. Little Bear is near its 100 year high water level and erosion to the shoreline over the past 4 or 5
years has been significant—to the point many trees are falling into the lake as the root structures became exposed.
Further, the loon population has diminished with little or no baby loons being born in the past two years. We also noted
that after a weekend with 2 jet skis on the lake, the loons left the lake for nearly 2 weeks.
Lake Little Bear is a beautiful and clean 130 acre lake within Voyager Village which originally was plotted out to protect
the water and the land. Currently has 3 docks with a total of 38 official boat slips operated by Voyager Village
Association. On weekends in particular, the boat landing is very busy and overflow parking was just added this year. It
seems 130 acres can only support so many watercraft and we already seem to be over that limit. As you consider the
request for an expanded revenue source for Voyager Village that you respectfully consider the environmental impact on
this small pristine lake.
With gratitude for your consideration, ECEOVE)
Julianne & Brent Skillman SEP 1 1 1020
(952) 393-8158
29715 Little Bear Drive Land Burne ServiceCounty
Danbury, WI 54830
From:Towne,Jason<jtowne@burnettcounty.org>
Sent: Friday,September 11, 2020 10:13 AM
To:juliskillman@gmail.com
Subject: Burnett County WI
Hi Juli,
Here is my email if you need to contact me.
Here is a list of the Land Use and Information Committee members:
https://www.burnettcounty.com/index.aspx?nid=291
