The site under consideration is located on a nearly level position along an access drive which was
constructed by cut-and-fill alteration of a slope to accommodate the drive. The proposed dispersal area would be
located in the filled portion of the altered slope adjacent to the drive.
Due to well and property boundary restrictions, the only alternative would be to pump upslope to a site with in
situ soils located a significant distance from the house to be served.
A representative profile of the fill and underlying in situ soil is described below:
Fill Layer 1 011- 18" 1OYR 4/4 gr-cb LS & SL (mixed) 2 to sbk many roots
Fill Layer 1 18"-28" 10YR 4/4 gr-cb LS w/pockets of coS sg no roots
Ab 28"- 5 1" 10YR 3/2 ISL 2 in gr-sbk many roots
Bs 51"-72" 7.5YR 4/4 LS 1 c sbk few roots
No evidence of compaction and no indication of periodic saturation was observed in the profile.
Conclusion:
The fill is suitable for an in-ground dispersal area installed no deeper than 18 inches below existing grade using a
0.6 gpdW design loading rate.
Direct any questions regarding this matter to my attention at 715-634-3484 or to Edwin.Taylor@wisconsin.gov.
Ed Taylor
DSPS Wastewater Specialist—Hayward Office
