Last week Thursday, August 22nd I visited the site to
have a closer look. Upon inspection I was unable to detect significant erosion problems on the
adjacent lot. It appears that the dense vegetation and associated root mats are providing a stable
shoreline at this time.
State laws allow lakeshore owners, such as yourself, to protect your property from erosion by
installing riprap or similar shoreline protection. However, because of the important habitat values of
natural shorelines we do not issue permits for these areas unless an erosion problem is evident.
I am enclosing a permit which allows you to riprap the 100 feet of shoreline directly in front of your
cabin. Because of the condition of the remaining shoreline I am not issuing a permit for the
remaining 126 feet. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this matter feel free to call me
at 715-4097.
Be egards, ALk
ohn Haack
Water Management Specialist
cc.
