May 81h, 2014
Louis Bredemus
1490 Thomas Ln
Eagan, MN 55122
RE: Steel Holding Tank Failure
Burnett County Zoning Administration
Burnett County Government Center
7410 COUNTY ROAD K, #102
SIREN, WISCONSIN 54872
PHONE (715) 349-2138
Site Address:
6315 Gull Lake Dr
Danbury, WI 54830
On 5/7/2014, 1 returned a phone call regarding the future addition of plumbing in the
garage of 6315 Gull Lake Dr, from Mr. Bredemus. I warned him that there is a steel septic tank
presently at the site that may not be structurally sound, due to the nature of steel tanks
corroding and developing structural integrity issues. I was going to be in the general area doing
other onsite inspections and told him I could stop to check the tank if he would like. He agreed
that he would like me to see if it would be suitable for the connection of additional plumbing
fixtures.
I did an inspection at approximately 10:00 a.m. on 5/7/2014, using a tile probe to prod
the tank. It immediately penetrated through the top or lid of the tank with little effort. This
indicates that the steel tank has extremely compromised structural integrity, and is prone to
collapsing at any time. There have been many cases this year where steel tanks have collapsed,
which is an important health concern to take into account.
I was asked by Mr. Bredemus to call him back after I conducted the onsite to describe
my findings, which I did on 5/7/2014. He acknowledged that he would like to replace the tank,
so as not to put his grandchildren and family in danger if it were to collapse.
You are hereby notified that you must replace your failed steel septic tank within 6 months
from the date of this letter. The first step is to contact a licensed WI plumber to design the
system and submit the necessary application.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me at any time. My office hours are Monday
through Friday from 8:30-4:30.
Thanks,
Craig Dantoin
Burnett County Zoning & POWTS Specialist
