• <br /> Rain Garden 2: Behind the home(See location in Figure 3). <br /> • To capture part of the new addition,the rain garden must be 85 sq ft. <br /> • At least 50 plant plugs would be required for this option and planted at least 18 inches apart. Choose <br /> plants that enjoy a wetter environment at the base of the rain garden and drier plants for the berm. <br /> • The rain garden should be at least 8 inches at the base. <br /> • The rain garden should be designed lower where the underground pipe flows into the garden and higher <br /> around the sides and back. The berms can be made with the evacuated soil from digging out the base. <br /> • Construct a rock overflow during heavier storm events which would be located on the back berm side <br /> facing a natural area, such as your woods. <br /> • Plants must be watered regularly. <br /> • Pipe the downspouts underground and directly into the rain garden using. The trench should be at least <br /> 12-18 inches deep (ensure below frost line) and leave at least 4 inches of space between either sides of <br /> the pipe.
