LANDMARK
CONSERVANCY
November 1, 2024
xxxxxx
xxxxxxxx
xxxxxxx
Re: Gull Lake Waters 2025 Camping Agreement and future plans
Dear Gull Lake Waters Camper,
Thank you for spending the 2024 camping season at Gull Lake Waters. Landmark
Conservancy appreciates your patronage as well as your attention to issues that tend to arise
during the camping season.
Attached you will find the 2025 Camping Agreement. There are a couple changes from
previous years highlighted in the Agreement, and I will summarize those changes here.
• Deadline for 2025 Camping Agreement renewal: January 1, 2025.
• Camping Fee increased from $2,750 to $3,000.*
• First payment ($1,500) due no later than March 1, 2025 (or $3,000 paid in full).
• Second payment($1,500) due no later than June 15, 2025.**
*Note: The 2025 Camping Fee is the same as 2020, when Landmark Conservancy
became the owner of the Campground. Subsequent years allowed for a reduction in
the Fee, which have thereafter increased to account for inflation.
**Note: Landmark Conservancy's fiscal year ends on June 30, and we need to
account for all income before the end of June.
Since Landmark Conservancy accepted the ownership of this property in 2020 following a
community-led effort to stop a significant expansion of the campground, we have explored
several potential outcomes. In the meantime, we have tried to accommodate a small number
of Campers, while also being very clear about our mission and the facts and history that led to
our ownership.
Landmark Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) private non-profit conservation organization whose
mission is to "Conserve Wisconsin's natural legacy for everyone, forever". The greater
Minerva-Love-Gull Lake community raised $1.5 million dollars to acquire the campground,
with the expectation that it would be donated to Landmark Conservancy. Landmark would
not expand the campground, and would instead transition the property over time to a publicly
accessible community asset, consistent with our mission.
Several things have become abundantly clear over the past several years, including the
following:
500 East Main Street, Suite 307 I Menomonie, WI 54751
(715) 235-8850 I landmarkwi.org
