• Management of the property as a private campground does not serve to accomplish
our mission.
• There are numerous issues with access, infrastructure and property management that
have been an ongoing source of confusion and a distraction from our mission.
• Opinions vary on the best path forward, with no path yielding the ideal outcome for all
parties.
• The current eight campers care deeply about the property and have varying degrees of
history and attachment to it.
For Landmark to move ahead and plan for the next phase of use and management of the
property, Landmark has made the decision to close the campground following the 2027
camping season. Until that time, use and management of the property will likely continue as
it has been unless an unforeseeable situation causes us to act sooner. Things can, and do,
change, and if there are any deviations from this plan, I will keep campers abreast of things to
the extent I can.
I understand that this news may not sit well but should not come as a surprise. I hope that by
allowing campers a reasonable time to find a new location, and to move or transition your
units from the property, it will not cause undue hardship.
Again, I appreciate everyone's understanding as we move ahead over the coming years, and I
thank you for your commitment to land conservation in northwest Wisconsin.
Sincerely,
Rick Remington
Executive Director
Attachment: 2025 Camping Agreement
