RESTORATION PLAN'
Robert and Jolene Buberl
28203 Bonner Lake Road
Comp. No. 012.4224.05.600
Correcting the shoreline violation requires removing all fill placed in the wetland area. The
wetland area was flagged previously. Native trees, shrubs, and groundcovers must also be
replanted. Wetland fill must be removed, and trees and shrubs must be planted and temporary
seeding of annual rye grain must be completed by October 15, 2005. Material removed from the
wetland should be used to reform the ice ridge at the shoreline. Establishment of permanent
groundcover vegetation must be completed by June 30, 2006.
Buffer Restoration
The restored buffer must extend from the ordinary high water mark 50 feet inland on Class 2
lakes such as Bonner Lake. This buffer restoration focuses on the area that was disturbed by the
wetland excavation and nearby disturbed areas.
Buffers consist of two major components: the first component(35 feet deep) is a no-touch,
natural vegetation zone, and the second component is a minimum maintenance zone. A single
viewing/access corridor up to 30 feet wide may cross both zones perpendicular to the shore.
Vegetation removal, cutting, trimming, and land disturbing activities are prohibited in the
no-touch zone. Limited pruning and mowing are allowed in the viewing/access corridor
and the minimum maintenance zone. Walkways, pathways, and stairs must be located in the
viewing/access corridor; and piers, wharfs and lifts must be placed in water immediately in front
of the corridor.
The Shoreline Buffer Restoration Guide for Landowners provides planting instructions, plant
lists and sources, and additional guidance for your restoration project. It will be mailed under
separate cover.
prepared by Cheryl Clemens,Dragonfly Consulting,on behalf of the Burnett County Land and Water Conservation
Department. Questions may be directed to Dave Ferris,Burnett County Conservationist,LWCD(715-349-2186) or
to Cheryl (715-268-4666).
