Box 337
RODNEY W.RIPLEY,P.E. $POONER, WI 54601
Consulting Engineer
And Lena Surveyor Phone 715-635.2245
4 ss
August 31, 1987
Burnett County Zoning Administration
Route 1, Box 300-102
Siren, Wisconsin 54872
Dear Mr. Flanigan,
On August 18, 1987, Mr. Horace Roberts was given copier§ of a certified survey
map to take to your office to get his application started for a variance.
Your office told him that they were not certified, but only a piece of paper.
Which comes to the question, What makes a certified Survey Map Certified???
A copy of my stamp and signature is on that piece of paper. Under the
Surveyor's Certificate, I stated, I Rodney W. Ripley hereby certify etc. . . . . . .
So he was then sent over to the Surveyor's office, where they could do nothing
for him also.
Mr. Roberts asked to take the map over himself, he was going to pay the fee
himself, he had a stamped and signed survey map, he had a soils test report
with him and he wanted to get his application started. Instead he was made to
feel ignorant. He called our office that same evening and the same evening I
promptly sent over the original, thinking you had also received the fee and
the soils test from him. Instead a week later, you send back the original
map, a preapplication consultation form request, preliminary plat c ecklist,
final map checklist, a township/municipality advisory review sheet ind 4 other
pages of your subdivision control ordinance. I appreciate all the )ther in-
formation, but would have appreciated it more if you wuld have help d Mr.
Roberts get his application taken care of.
Your covering letter point out----
Para. # 1. That all parcels under 5 acres must have a soil boring est
( he had that report with him on the 18th.
2. You wanted easements drawn on the map. There are no ea ements
on the property. Mr. Roberts wanted to check to see wh re you
would allow the easement to be.
3. Subdivision permit fee. Mr. Roberts was going to pay y )u when
he brought the map in on August 18.
4. On your subdivision ordinance calls for preliminary rev ew/
approvals. Which is why we sent the copies over. You ould have
reviewed them for zoning purposes.
5. Points out the confusion you are experienceing doing whatever you
are doing. Then please think of the public taxpayer, w1lo maybe is
only using your services for the first time and maybe o ly time,
and how ignorant you make them feel because they don't anderstand
your procedure or know what hoops to jump through.
MUNICIPAL ENGINEERING-HIGHWAYS-PLATTING-BOUNDARY SURVEYS
