BURNE T COUNTY ZONING ADMINISTRATION
BU ETT COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER
7410 COUNTY ROAD K,#102 PHONE(715)349-2138
SIREN,WISCONSIN 54872
August 24,2005
Jay Reiling
PO Box 270931
North Oaks,MN 55E7-2077
Dear Mr.Reiling:
As part of the conditi ns of your permit a shoreline buffer restoration plan was required. This plan
was put together by the Burnett County Land and Water Conservation Department.
An inspection of thi buffer restoration was conducted on 8-17-05. This inspection found the
restoration plan only partially completed. See inspection comments below:
A recent inspection in oted that the seeding in the view corridor/opening below the house did not
completely cover the view corridor with vegetation, and that a gully is forming from runoff from
the house. The corr dor must be covered at least with some type of groundcover such as lawn
grasses. This area hould be reseeded in late august or early September to establish a full
groundcover.
The vegetation protection area on the island is not established according program standards.
The opening at the h ke is about 60 feet wide instead of the allowed 30 feet. The pathway to the
swing should be narrowed to a maximum of 4 feet to allow plants to grow. Steppingstones might
help to minimize disturbance in this area. The ATV turnaround creates a view corridor that is
47 feet wide on the walkway side of the island. This is also well beyond the allowed 30-foot
corridor. Areas outside of the 30-foot view corridor must be allowed to grow up. It will likely
be necessary to limit kTV and foot traffic for this to be successful.
This restoration is noi only a required part of your permit, but it also is extremely important to the
water quality and na al scenic beauty of our water bodies.
Please contact the Land and Water Conservation office at 349-2186 to resolve any concerns regarding
this restoration plan.
Sincerely,
Jim Flanigan
Zoning Administrator
JF:jn
cc: Land and Wa er Conservation Department
