Burnett County Zoning Administration
Burnett County Government Center
7410 COUNTY ROAD K, #102
SIREN, WISCONSIN 54872
PHONE (715) 349-2138
February 26, 2018
Write -Up for Karl Auleciems' Court Trial on 2/28/2018
June 22, 2016 — While viewing Karl Auleciems' (KA) VRBO short-term rental listing, it was
apparent that the property description discussed the availability of two outdoor showers for
renter's use. It is not legal to discharge domestic wastewater from plumbing fixtures on to the
surface of the ground per SPS 383 Prohibitions. The showers can be seen in the photos shown
for the property to present date. This prompted a staff visit.
July 15, 2016 — Shane Buchholz (SB) and Dale Beers (DB) approached the subject property at
28522 Bridge Rd and proceeded to knock on the closest access door to the road to make
contact with inhabitants. No inhabitants answered the door. Staff proceeded to knock on the
lakeside door of the cabin to no avail. Within view of this door were the outdoor showers.
Showers verified to be in existence and not tied into any sanitary system for disposal of
domestic waster.
September 2, 2016 — A Notice of Violation was sent to KA for discharging domestic wastewater
to the surface of the ground, and for advertising to far more people than the sanitary system is
designed to serve. NOTE: Advertisements are shown for 5 Bedroom home serving 20 people.
The sanitary system is sized for 2 bedrooms or 4 people. A deadline of 10/2/2016 was given to
amend these issues by our department. Issues not resolved to this date.
July 7, 2017 — Based on a complaint received about persons renting the subject property
illegally, a site visit was made by Jason Towne (JT) and SB. A recording of the contact made with
the renters indicated that the renters had no issue with staff taking a look at the property.
Upon inspection it was noted that the outdoor showers still remained in their illegal state, and
that two new plastic manhole risers were added on the downstream side of the septic tank
prompting curiosity by our department. No plastic tanks were permitted or installed with the
original septic system. The woodshed also appeared to be on top of the drainfield illegally, and
too close to a neighbor property line (required 10' setback to each). The corrugated riser seen
in the attached photos is the legally allowed septic tank. This tank is clearly seen to be sitting
alone in the 7/25/2014 photos provided.
September 1, 2017 —JT filed an affidavit to obtain an inspection warrant for the subject
property to verify illegal sanitary modifications
