State of Wisconsin 1 DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
Tommy G. Thompson, Governor
George E. Meyer, Secretary
William H. Smith, District Director
WISCONSIN ----
DEPT. The intent of shoreline rules and regulations are to
allow property owners such as yourself an opportunity to protect their shoreline from erosion but still
protect the lake and adjacent shallow water areas from filling, erosion and other disturbance. These
areas are very important for the health of aquatic plants and animals, protection of water quality.
State law does not allow you to reclaim what shoreline was lost in previous years, however it does
allow placement of riprap or similar material to prevent erosion. Protection of the base of this slope
with 12 to 18 inches of riprap extending up to 2 feet lakeward would be something we could approve.
Enclosed is a brochure that outlines installation of riprap. If you decide to pursue installation of riprap
on your shoreline it will need to conform to the basic design standards in this brochure. Please review
this brochure and the enclosed sample application . I am also returning your application so you can
amend it.
Feel free to call me at 635-4097 if you have any questions regarding this matter. please change
Sin ely,
ohn Haack
Water Management Specialist
urnett County Zoning Administrator
Quality Natural Resources Management
Through Excellent Customer Service
Printed nn
Recycled
Paper
