(30) SEASONAL MOBILE HOME: A mobile home not to be used for year around living such that would make it necessary to provide services as school busing, mail carriers, etc. (31) SHORELAND AREA: All lands in the unincorporated areas of the County within the following distance from the ordinary high water mark of navigable water; 1,000 feet from a lake, pond, or flowage, and 300 feet from a river or stream or to the landward side of a flood plain, whichever distance is greater. (32) SIGN: A sign is any structure or natural object or part thereof or device attached thereto or printed or represented thereon which is intended to attract attention to any object, product, place, activity, person, institution, organization, or business, or which shall display or include any letter, word, banner, flag, pennant, insignia, device, or representation used as or which is in the nature of an announcement, direction, or advertisement. (33) STRUCTURE: Anything constructed or erected excluding utility poles. (34) UNNECESSARY HARDSHIP: A circumstance, as determined by the Board of Adjustment, where special conditions which were not self-created affect a particular property and make strict conformity with restrictions governing area, setbacks, frontage, height, or density unnecessarily burdensome or unreasonable in light of the purposes of this Ordinance. (35) USE: The specific purpose for which land or a building is designed, arranged, intended, or for which it is or may be occupied or maintained. The term "Permitted use" or its equivalent shall not be deemed to include any non-conforming use. (36) WETLANDS: Areas where water is at, near, or above the land surface long enough to be capable of supporting aquatic or hydrophytic vegetation and which have soils indicative of wet conditions. (37) WETLAND, DESIGNATED AS: Those wetlands shown with boundaries and classifications on the wetland maps adopted and made part of this Ordinance in Section 3.2. (38) YARD, FRONT: An open, unoccupied space on the same lot with the building between the front line of the building and the front line of the lot and extending the full width of the lot. (39) YARD, REAR: An open unoccupied space on the same lot with the building between the rear line of the building and the rear line of the lot and extending the full width of the lot. (40) YARD, SIDE: An open unoccupied space on the same lot with the building situated between the building and the side line of the lot and extending from the front yard to the rear yard. - 5 -
