I am by nature an entrepreneur and
supporter of small business, but the activities of the Trade River Winery have become
so intrusive that I am forced to request enforcement of the conditional use permit (CUP)
for sales and service granted to them by your committee in early 2006.
The letter authorizing their 2006 CUP specifically states that their activities must be
contained within the original 1000 square foot perimeter of the wine warehouse. The winery has
expanded their perimeter to the outside patio. This expansion has created a nuisance.
Two weekends ago there was a wedding on the patio which lasted from 3pm till 10pn-i
with a disc jockey, PA system and a great deal of noise right till 10pm. It was a beautiful
weekend with the trees turning and the wind quiet. All we wanted to do was sit on the
porch and enjoy a lovely evening. That quiet enjoyment was impossible.
Last weekend a tent was erected on the winery patio and a polka band played. Even
with all the house windows and doors shut, the music could be heard.
This weekend, a tent has been erected and I expect the worst. I should not have to
expect the worst. I should be able to enjoy the lake and my property without wondering
what kind of intrusion will be next. Lucky us, another wedding complete with DJ, PA
system, loud music, and screams of joy. Why are we not having any fun? It's 10:45pm
and the DJ is saying good night. At last, quiet, but no, I forgot cleanup! The tent comes
down with aluminum poles crashing on stone from 11 pm till midnight. How do I know? It
